Elda María Román is an Associate Professor in the English Department at the University of Southern California. She studies race, class, literature, and media. She has authored a book, Race and Upward Mobility: Seeking, Gatekeeping, and Other Class Strategies in Postwar America (Stanford UP) along with articles on Latinx and Black media. She is currently working on a collection of essays combining personal stories with cultural criticism.
